Duct openings in walls and floors

Automate the creation of openings in walls and floors where ducts intersect architectural or structural elements.

Overview

This BIMLOGIQ Copilot public command detects duct intersections and generates openings based on user-defined settings to improve project coordination and documentation.

Key Features

Select Ducts

Manually choose specific duct elements for opening creation, ensuring only required ducts are processed according to your project needs.

Include Ducts from Linked Models

Access ducts from linked models using the “Ducts in Link File” option, enabling coordination between MEP and architectural or structural models.

Select Target Elements

Define whether openings should be created in walls, floors, or both, depending on your project setup.

Define Gap Size

Specify clearance around openings to account for installation tolerances and construction requirements.

Merge Openings

Enable merging when multiple ducts pass through the same element in close proximity, creating a single larger opening instead of separate ones.

Set Merge Tolerance

Configure the distance threshold within which nearby openings combine into one. For instance, a 50 mm tolerance merges openings closer than 50 mm apart.
