Edit Shared Parameter
Modify, rename, or delete shared parameters across your Revit project and families.
Overview
The Shared Parameter Edit Command in BIMLOGIQ Copilot is a powerful tool for managing shared parameters directly within Revit. It enables you to delete shared parameters or modify their names while maintaining consistency across your project.
Key Capabilities
You can accomplish the following with this command:
- Edit or remove shared parameters from elements
- Choose between project-level editing or updating parameters inside families
- Apply changes across all families using the selected parameter
- Rename parameters efficiently and consistently
- Use the “Force Edit” option to override warnings or errors
- Update both the project and the shared parameter file simultaneously
Workflow Example
The documentation demonstrates working with a parameter called “Total Width” applied to doors. The command automatically renames it across the project and all related families while updating the shared parameter file to ensure consistency throughout your workflow.
Important Considerations
Since this command directly edits the shared parameter file, keep a backup copy as a precaution before making changes.
This approach significantly reduces manual effort and provides comprehensive control over shared parameters in your Revit environment.
