Smart Annotation provides a highly configurable settings interface to tailor the tool to your needs. The settings are organized into multiple tabs within the Settings window, each focusing on a specific aspect of annotation.
The Tag Settings panel allows you to define which elements are tagged and with which tag families. Follow these steps:
1. Click the Settings button in the Smart Annotation ribbon to open the Settings panel.

2. Ensure the Tag Settings tab is selected.

3. On the left side, select the element categories to configure (e.g., Doors, Walls) from a categorized list grouped by discipline.

4. In the center preview area, right-click on the dashed crosshairs, choose Add Tag, and select the desired tag family (e.g., M_Door_Tag, M_Material_Tag).
You can add multiple tags per category.

5. Drag the tag to your preferred location around the element (e.g., top-left, center, bottom-right).

Enable Pin tag locations at the bottom of the window to fix the tag position for future auto-placement.
If disabled: When you manually place a tag, Smart Annotation may automatically adjust its position in busy areas to improve readability and avoid overlaps, moving it relative to its element.
If enabled: The tag will remain in your chosen location and will not be moved automatically by Smart Annotation, even in crowded or complex areas.

Once your setup is complete, click Save or Save As at the top of the window and assign a clear name (e.g., ASP_Tag_Config_3).
This template can now be used with commands like Tag and Arrange, Batch Annotation, and Dimension and Arrange to produce clean, consistent documentation automatically.
