Adjusting Tag Properties

Fine-tune how each tag behaves in your template using the Properties, Types, and Filters tabs:

  1. Click on a tag in the center preview panel of the Tag Settings tab.

  2. On the right-hand side, explore the following tabs:

    • Properties Tab: Controls appearance and behavior (e.g., tag orientation, leader settings).

Tag Orientation: Automatically rotates the tag to align with the element. Options include:

  • Auto: Follows the best geometry for readability.

  • Horizontal: Keeps the tag text aligned horizontally regardless of the element’s angle.

  • Vertical: Keeps the tag text aligned vertically regardless of the element’s angle.

Tag Leader: Automatically adds a leader if the tag is far or readability is low. Optional to disable.

Tag Overlap: Allows tag to be placed over the host element if needed.

Remove Empty/Zero value tags: Skips tags with no data or zero values to keep drawings clean.

Types Tab: Specifies conditions under which the tag is applied.

Filters Tab: Defines rules for tag application based on element parameters (e.g., at every element count, change of tag value, direction, or parameter value). The available fields in this tab may vary depending on the selected tag, showing only the options relevant to that tag type. Options include:

Minimum Length: Follows the best geometry for readability.

Direction Filter: Filters by element direction — horizontal, vertical, or angled.

System Type: Filters elements by their Revit system type.

Revit Filters: Uses existing Revit Visibility/Graphics filters for advanced control.

Include Elements in Assemblies: Allows tagging of elements inside assemblies.

Change – Based Tagging: Tags only when there’s a change in size or direction.

Typical Tag Filter: Tags one element from a group and writes the total count to a selected parameter. Prevents repetitive tags for clustered elements.

  1. Click OK to save your changes.

These settings ensure tags are applied with precision according to project requirements and office standards.
