Rebar modeling from specifications

Model structural reinforcement automatically in Revit — Argus reads your rebar specification (PDF, table, or plain text) and places longitudinal bars, transverse bars, and stirrups for beams, columns, foundations, floors and walls.

Overview

One of Argus’s core skills is the ability to automatically model structural reinforcement bars directly inside Revit — saving engineers a significant amount of time compared to manual rebar placement.

Give Argus a rebar specification — the layout, spacing, bar sizes, and zone requirements for your structural elements — and it interprets the document and models the reinforcement in full compliance, without any manual configuration.

How it works

  1. Attach the specification. Add your rebar spec to the chat — a PDF document, a table, or even a plain text description.
  2. Ask Argus to model the rebars. For example: “Model the rebars for all the elements in this view based on the attached instructions.” No additional configuration is needed — Argus handles the interpretation automatically.
  3. Argus analyzes and places. It reads through the specification and analyzes the Revit elements one by one. For each element it determines the correct rebar configuration and places the bars accordingly.

What gets modeled

  • Longitudinal bars in beams and columns, sized and counted per the specification
  • Transverse bars and stirrups, including column transverse bars at the foundation level
  • Critical zone reinforcement — rebars in the critical zones of beams and columns are spaced closer together, as required by seismic design standards, while mid-zone regions use the wider spacing from the spec

The level of detail and accuracy reflects what a structural engineer would expect from a hand-modeled result.

Argus interprets the source you give it and applies the requirements to the matching elements in your model.
